painting
Participants are given a wood panel or canvas board upon which to work; charcoal and paper to sketch out ideas; brushes; solvent; and paints.
Following techniques illustrated in Parallel Lines, participants elect either to glue their chosen photo to the canvas or board and then paint over and around the image; or chose to use the photo as a point of inspiration from which to depart.
There is no right or wrong way to paint. The object of the exercise is to tap into one's emotions and freely express this through painting.
